Winning winter hats and how to style them

You don’t have to be a hat person to appreciate all the gorgeous headwear trends that have emerged this season, which go way beyond your average beanie.

Sure, the autumn/winter catwalk was full of OTT hats – the oversized straw numbers at Jacquemus, the wide brim fedoras at Marc Jacobs, and who can forget the balaclavas at Gucci? – but don’t let the showstoppers scare you off because there’s a plethora of wearable options out there.

At Christian Dior, for instance, we immediately fell in love with the effortlessly chic baker boy hats, while caps made a major comeback at Burberry. More of a believer in berets? Look to Moschino and Versace for some super-stylish versions.

The key is not to let the hat wear you – it should be an extension of your outfit rather take over – which is why I’ll be opting for minimal fedoras and boaters, and sticking to a back or tonal palette to add depth (if it ain’t broke…).

Here’s your head’s up on the best winter hats available to buy right now.
