These swimsuits prove the one-piece has never been cooler

Swimsuits are back for SS19 and they’re looking better than ever. That’s not to say we’ll be waving goodbye to our bikinis just yet, but you can’t deny the one-piece game is strong, not to mention figure-flattering and elegantly modest, if that’s what you’re after.

On the catwalks, designers such as Marysia and Lisa Marie Fernandez sent out classic yet avant-garde swimsuits in earth shades of khaki, brown and moss green, proving that covering up has never been so cool. Over on Instagram, brands like Hunza G and Matteau have also made the case for the minimalist one-piece.

Naturally, the high street has followed suit and now we’re all rushing to get our hands on the new SS19 beach essential from the likes of Zara, Topshop and Mango.

Style-wise, there are plenty of options: from bandeau shapes perfect for getting an even summer tan, to outré cut-outs and one-shoulder styles for maximum poolside glamour. Grown-up designs in dark shades are ultra-flattering for those with curves or try Tomas Maier for classic respins and COS for super-stylish silhouettes that won’t blow the budget.

For those feeling extra bold and coveting a new-season edge, there’s also a plethora of prints available, as well as neon shades. Look to Victoria’s Secret and ASOS for purse-friendly options, and Gucci or STAUD if you’re happy to spend a little more for a statement piece.

I’ll be opting for a gingham number this season – it’s still a major player and perfect for pairing with denim, as are the graphic shapes seen at Solid & Striped. Shop our edit of oh-so-wearable styles below that are perfect for pool parties and lazy days on the beach. Here comes the sun…
